Metal Channel Coil Brush

Heartland Brush Company manufactures coil or cylinder brushes that are designed to your specifications and ideal for cleaning conveyor systems, sheet metal, and glass. Additionally, coil brushes are used in the food industry for bakery applications and cleaning fruits and vegetables. Metal channel coil brushes are also effective for augering or transferring materials and products.

Built with quality in mind

Our brushes are built to last and perform at the highest level, which begins with high-caliber design and superior materials at the base level.

A metal strip forms a heavy-duty backing. As the metal is formed into a U-shaped channel, the fill material is laid overtop.

Backing

Strong wire is laid across the top of the fill material. It is pressed into the metal channel, forcing the fill material to become vertical as the channel is closed around the wire and the fill.

Fill material

A variety of fill material is able to be used in the strip brush, depending on the use needed. These materials can be crimped or level and the fibers can be natural, synthetic or steel.

Open or close-wound

The filled metal channel is wound around a large mandrel. The distance between wraps of the coil (lead) can be open-wound or close-wound (no lead).

Mounting shaft (optional)

Coil brushes are sometimes mounted on a shaft. Brushes can be designed to fit an existing shaft as an OEM replacement, or to fit a new shaft.

Customize your fill material

Pairing the right filament to your application plays a crucial role in the performance of your brush.

Crimped

Level

These bristles have a wave and create a bushier brush.

Straight bristles create a more compact surface.

Synthetic

Nylon

Good bend recovery, abrasion resistance, flex fatigue resistance, and chemical resistance.
Grade 6.0, 6.6, 6.12

Polypropylene

Versatile filament with excellent wet stiffness. Good bend recovery, but will take a set more easily than other material.

Abrasive Nylon

Nylon monofilament impregnated with silicone carbide, aluminum oxide, or ceramic. Long wearing material available in several filament diameters and grit sizes.

Natural

Horse Hair

Excellent durability. The soft to slightly stiff texture ensures gentle cleaning without scratches on polished surfaces. Produces very little static electricity.

Tampico

From the Agave plant grown in Mexico, with a natural cream color. Excellent for tasks that involve retaining liquid, scrubbing, and finishing surfaces.

Wire types offered

High-carbon wire
Stainless steel wire
Brass
Phosphorous bronze

Open-wound or close-wound

Continuous brush-to-work-surface contact requires a close-wound coil (no lead), while an open lead is recommended when moving product.

The gaps between the coil allow product to move through.

Use for continuous contact between the brush and the work.

Close-Wound

Open-Wound

Mounting shaft

A continuous metal back strip brush coiled on and welded to a lightwall steel tube. A hub and shaft assembly is designed for many hours of trouble-free service. This brush is custom made to fit your process.

Applications for metal channel coil brushes

Coil brushes provide more filament contact than a metal channel strip brush, which is useful for aggressive cleaning applications, as well as solutions to the following industrial challenges:

Conveyor Systems

For conveyors, sheet metal, glass, fruits and vegetables

Polishing

Steel, copper, aluminum, leather

Augering

Guiding or transferring products or materials

Cleaning

Preparing or wiping surfaces, cleaning inside of tubular surfaces
